For sources, whistleblowers, and anyone with something that carries risk. The goal here is simple: that reaching us should never be the thing that exposes you.
Sentinel Media offers three ways to make contact, in ascending order of protection: Proton email for general and non-sensitive enquiries, Signal for confidential tips and conversations that should leave no trace, and PGP encryption for sending sensitive documents that only we can open. Choose the channel that matches your level of risk. If in doubt, use Signal.
The Channels

Before You Reach Out
Use Signal. Install it on a personal device — never a work phone or work computer — and message the handle above. Turn on disappearing messages. Do not send tips from an account, device, or network that can be traced to you by the people the tip concerns.
Assume nothing is fully anonymous and protect yourself accordingly. Contact us from a device and network that are not linked to your work or your name. Do not tell colleagues you have made contact. If you can, use Signal or PGP rather than plain email — and share only what is necessary to establish the story.
No one honestly can, and anyone who promises perfect anonymity is lying to you. What we can promise is that we will protect your identity to the fullest extent within our power, use the most secure channel you are willing to use, and never publish anything that identifies you without your consent. The rest depends on your own precautions.
Sentinel Media reports from South Africa under the pseudonym SA Sentinel. Contact infrastructure is deliberately kept offshore and encrypted to protect both the outlet and its sources.
The most dangerous moment is often the first contact. Before you reach out about anything sensitive: use a device that is not monitored, a network that is not your workplace, and an account that is not tied to your name. Say as little as possible until a secure channel is established. Your safety matters more than any story.
